Protect Your Business

Monitored Systems

There are two types of Monitored Systems - Keyholder Response and Police Response. In both instances monitored systems are connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) and in the event of a confirmed alarm activation your external siren will trigger and a signal will be sent to the Alarm Receiving Centre via your telephone line informing them of the activation.

With a Keyholder Response system the Alarm Receiving Centre will then contact the premises and any nominated keyholders to inform them that the alarm has been activated, the keyholders will then attend the premises. With a Police Reponse system the Alarm Receiving Centre will contact the premises, any nominated keyholders and the Police, with the Police and the keyholders attending the premises.

Monitored Systems give the added peace of mind that your business is connected to the Alarm Receiving Centre and is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can relax knowing your business is fully secure against intruders.

Digicom Monitoring

Digicom Monitoring is the most common form of monitoring and is connected to the Alarm Receiving Centre via an analogue phone line. The telephone line sends the signals from the alarm to the Alarm Receiving Centre in the event of an activation and depending on the type of activation will determine the action the Alarm Receiving Centre takes. However the telephone line is not monitored so if the line was cut or damaged then the signals cannot be sent. There are other forms of monitoring that can alleviate this and they are described below.

Redcare GSM

Redcare GSM is a dual path form of monitoring. The signals are sent down the telephone landline aswell as via the GSM phone network. If anything happens to one of pathways the other one will continue to work, for example if the telephone landline is cut the alarm signals will be sent via the GSM network. The telephone landline is also monitored by a signal being sent continuously down the landline between your premises and the Alarm Receiving Centre so in the event of a fault or the line being cut the Alarm Receiving Centre are alerted, even if the external bell doesn't sound. This gives you complete peace of mind that your business is being protected every minute of the day, 365 days a year.

Dualcom GPRS

Dualcom GPRS is another dual path form of monitoring and uses the Vodafone network. Just like Redcare GSM the signals are sent via an analogue landline and also by the Vodafone network so if one pathway is cut the other continues to monitor the premises. The difference with the GPRS is that it is high speed technology which means it can send the data at a faster speed and it can also be converted to an IP (Internet) based secondary path using a LAN (Local Area Network) card if you wanted to do this in the future. If you decide to have Dualcom GPRS installed, on our initial visit we will check the strength of the vodafone coverage in your area to ensure that the monitoring works at it's best for you and your business.

These days the majority of insurance companies stipulate that an alarm should be monitored by dual path signalling such as Redcare GSM or Dualcom GPRS to ensure maximum protection of your business premises and the stock that you hold inside. Audible Only security system

An Audible Only security system, or 'Bells Only' as it is also known. Once activated it triggers a 115db external siren and an internal siren, alerting passers by and informing the intruder that they have been detected. The flashing bell box combined with the siren acts as a deterrent to burglars, while relying on neighbours or passers by to contact the Police. This option isn't usually the best one for a business but if you are looking for security which is simple and keeps the costs to a minimum then this may be the option for you, however we recommend you check with your insurance company as most stipulate a monitored system is to be installed to protect a business premises.

Keyholding Service

With a monitored intruder alarm you will need to have a minimum of 2 keyholders for your business who live within 20 minutes of the premises, unfortunately on some occasions this may prove to be difficult to find - you and your staff may not live within 20 minutes of your business or you may not like giving the responsibility of holding keys to your staff.

Salamander Fire & Security Ltd can offer the solution to this problem and introduce a professional Keyholding Service to you. They will have keys to your premises and will become a keyholder on the list of keyholders passed to the Alarm Receiving Centre and the Police, in the event of any activation they will attend your premises to check everything is as it should be or meet the Police on site if that unthinkable break in occurs. They can also contact you immediately if they are called out giving you peace of mind that your business and it's security is in safe hands.
